Off-Season Bonus: Abraham Alexander Returns!

It’ll probably be the cheesiest way I’ve started a podcast, but fuck it: you gotta love when good things happen to good people. That’s how I feel about today’s returning guest, my brother Abraham Alexander. It’s nuts really, his star has only continued to rise since appearing on the podcast way back in season 1, with 2023 seeing the release of his debut album, SEA/SONS.

The album features Abe exploring themes of loss, redemption, longing, and anguish, but also joy and light. It’s a strong body of work that feels very human, which in turn feels strikingly poignant during this time of algorithms, AI tech, and diminishing attention spans. SEA/SONS acts as a gentle reminder of “hey, it’s ok to sit with your feelings for a sec.” all while being a gloriously sounding collection of songs. Oh, and let’s not forget that the album also features appearances from Gary Clark Jr and Mavis Staples…like bruh, what?

But who is at the helm of this music? Well, that’s what this episode is all about. Beyond exploring the album as a whole, this episode also serves as a bit of a re-introduction to my bro, Abe, and everything he’s about. He’s a sweet, generous, hospitable soul who brightens every room that he enters, and I’m really excited at knowing that you’re all about to fall in love with him.

After you hear the episode, be sure to check out Abraham Alexander’s track Blood Under The Bridge on the official New Exchange Playlist. Also, be sure to follow Abraham Alexander on Spotify, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
